2nd edition of ’t Zandcafé

‘t Zandcafé is a neighbourhood gathering about topics related to ‘t Zand, organised by the neighbourhood association Zandbewoners. For the second edition, we are organising an open-air cinema on Sint Luciaplein, screening the documentary De Verkrotte Droom.

The film tells the story of residents of Amsterdam’s Van der Pek neighbourhood who were committed to preserving their hundred-year-old working-class district. Most of the houses are owned by a large housing association, and the neighbourhood is part of the municipality’s Natural Gas-Free Neighbourhoods pilot project. These are familiar themes that also play a role here in the ‘t Zand neighbourhood. Curious? Watch the trailer for the documentary below.

With this Zandcafé, we are also celebrating the completion of the renovations of the social housing around Sint Luciaplein and its side streets. After the film, we will talk to the makers of the documentary, Ilse and Femke van Velzen. You can also ask them questions. There will be free drinks and popcorn for everyone, and we will end with a pleasant get-together. Come and join us at Sint Luciaplein!

After registering, you will receive an automatic confirmation by email. Five days before the screening, you will receive a reminder and the weather forecast by email. The documentary will be screened outdoors. Please note that the evening is dependent on weather conditions. In case of rain or strong winds, the programme may be rescheduled or cancelled; we will inform everyone who has registered as soon as possible by email.

You can register multiple people at once using the registration form. The preferences you specify apply to everyone in your registration.

We will provide chairs, but if you prefer to bring your own chair, please let us know via the registration form. On the evening, photos and video recordings will be made for follow-up reporting and promotion of future activities. If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let someone from the organisation know upon arrival. We will then take this into account.
