Liberationday in ‘t Zand 2026| Tuesday, 5 May 2026
On Liberation Day, we take a moment together to reflect on the history of our neighbourhood and the meaning of freedom today.
We start with a special guided tour through ’t Zand South, led by Robert Herbschleb. Robert is an experienced guide, also working at Camp Vught, and will take us along the Van der Does de Willeboissingel. This street contains many stumbling stones (Stolpersteine), commemorating Jewish residents who were deported during the Second World War.
During the walk, you will hear stories of the families who once lived here. These stories bring history close and help us better understand the past of our own neighbourhood.
After the tour, we will gather for a free Freedom Lunch at OMNII. A moment to eat together, meet each other, and reflect on what freedom means to us—then and now.
