What?

The day started at 10h30 beneath the clock at the station, where Robert Herbschleb guided us on a special tour through ‘t Zand Zuid. Robert is an expert guide, for example at Kamp Vught. He took us past Van der Does de Willeboissingel 26 and 28, Enckevoirtstraat 12 and 26, Koningsweg 52 and 67, and Luijbenstraat 2.

In our neighbourhood there are a lot of Struikelstenen, memorials of Jewish neighbourhood residents that were taken during World War II. During the tour, we heard the personal stories of the families that lived here. Stories that touched us and helped us better understand the history of our neighbourhood. An educational moment for many of us.

After the tour we went to OMNII for a free liberation lunch. We ate a vegetarian liberation soup, the recipe of which was made by Janny van der Heijden, with delicious salads and bread.
