‘t Zandcaf\u00e9 is a neighbourhood gathering about themes from ‘t Zand, organised by the Zandbewoners neighbourhood association. During this 1st<\/sup> edition we delve into the past of our neighbourhood. This ‘t Zandcaf\u00e9 is dedicated to the Jewish local residents during the Second World War. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will learn more about Roosje Glaser<\/strong>, a dance teacher who lived in ‘t Zand and survived several concentration camps. Her nephew, Paul Glaser<\/strong>, wrote a book about his aunt and will share her life story with us the evening. During the ‘t Zandcaf\u00e9, never-before-seen photos of Roosje and the ‘t Zand neighbourhood will be shown from her private photo album. Will you attend? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the break and at the end of the evening it will also be possible to buy a signed copy of Paul Glaser’s book. If you already own the book and would like to have it signed, that is also possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Stichting Struikelstenen \u2019s-Hertogenbosch<\/strong> will give a presentation about their efforts in our neighbourhood and city to honor and commemorate the murdered Jewish residents. They will explain the history of the stumbling stones which was created by the German artist Gunter Demnig<\/strong>, a very interesting story! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will also talk about how the foundation, in collaboration with the municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, has placed 249 stumbling stones for all Jewish residents of Den Bosch who were murdered. With photos and some short stories about residents of ‘t Zand from their book \u2018ge\u00efsoleerd, gedeporteerd, vermoord\u2019.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This evening we will be guests in the gym hall of the L.W. Beekmanschool<\/strong>. Many Jewish children who went to school here were persecuted. There is a large stumbling stone at the entrance of the school in remembrance thereof. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Paadjesmakers<\/strong>, who, created a walking guide along the stumbling stones, will also be present that evening. They will be selling their walking guides with a ‘t Zand resident discount during the break and at the end of the evening. If you already have a walking guide and would you like to have it signed? Then bring it with you! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
